“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.”

– tennis champion Arthur Ash

“I believe there’s a hero in all of us that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride…” -Aunt May, Spider Man 2

In the real world, we don’t have Super-Soldier Serum coursing through our veins. We don’t own high-tech suits of armor or carry a vibranium shield.

But we can– indeed we must–use the skills and opportunities afforded us to help those in need. That is, after all, the whole point of heroism.

Fighting the Common Enemy Known as The Bystander Effect

Bystanders are common in superhero stories. Before officially becoming Captain America, Steve Rogers chases an armed, gun-toting saboteur while others back away in fear.

When the Avengers fight alien invaders from space in New York City, the public is seen in the background doing nothing.

But then something remarkable happens. As Captain America is pinned inside a bus by machine-gun fire, average, ordinary citizens become heroic and start helping the injured out of the bus to safety.

Civic Courage

When we find the courage to behave more sociocentrically, (for the betterment of society) as opposed to egocentrically (for the betterment of oneself), we’re realizing our heroic potential.

Acting altruistically puts a meaningful mission in front of us with a powerful purpose behind us. And if there’s anything worth living for beyond family, serving others is it. And that is the high calling of Inspire Personal Fitness.

We’re determined to help those who can’t help themselves; to give back to our community, and to change as many lives as we possibly can.

Personal Fulfillment

Living a heroic, altruistic life requires intent and effort. In truth, living a purpose fulfilled life is often a direct reflection of how much effort, over time, is spent in pursuit of morally praiseworthy activities. What could be more fulfilling?

That said, join us, won’t you, in our mission to change lives?

“It is so easy to break down and destroy. The heroes are those who make peace and build.”
Nelson Mandela

Our duty is to turn non-tangible  “values” into something more meaningful, more concrete,  more heroic. Not as an achievement; achievements are easy–and temporary.

What we’re creating is a way of being that transcends mere mortal effort and becomes a powerful symbol representing something greater than itself.

And the way we do that is by creating a movement to support our community. A movement that effortlessly defeats and overcomes the bystander effect.

Introducing the new symbol of doing good in Asheville, North Carolina:

Local Motive: The engine for good in our community.

As with any new movement, there will be challenges, obstacles, and unfortunately, enemies to overcome. It’s expected, and that’s why …

We Need Your Help

Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, may volunteer to become a superhero, and Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, may turn himself into one using scraps in a cave, but it takes teaming up to become the Avengers.

So, whether your desire is to volunteer like Steve Rogers, or take more of a leadership role, like Tony Stark, we invite you to join us in spreading the Local Motive message. And together, we’ll all…

” I used to pray for answers, but now I’m praying for strength. I used to believe that prayer changes things, but now I know that prayer changes us and we change things.”  -Mother Teresa

Over the course of years past, Inspire Personal Fitness has had the privilege and honor of raising much-needed funds for:

⦿  St. Jude Children’s Hospital, where we’ve hosted five events…

⦿  Girls On The Run, where we’ve sponsored booths for their Soulmates program…

⦿  Manna Foodbank, where we’ve held two food drives, filling barrels of food, and…

⦿  Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, where we hosted a charity workout.

Worthy causes, the bunch of them, and it’s been a delight to help make meaningful contributions to them all.

But there can be real evil in this world, and Inspire Personal Fitness is determined to stand toe-to-toe with our newest charity partner, Our Voice.

Our Voice is a sexual assault crisis center offering 24-hour support to victims.

They help sexual assault victims over the age of 13, regardless of gender.

While they go about helping support victims of sexual assault, we’re committed to using every power in our possession in an attempt to move heaven and earth–and hell as well, if needed–to bring vital support to them.

As hard as it is to imagine, and as painful as it is to envision, sexual assault happens in our own community.

The cause could not be more worthy, and the need could not be more urgent. And so we fight.

Because this is what it means to be real-life heroes. This is what it means to have a mission in front of you. This is what it means to have a purpose behind you. And this is what it means to have a team beside you.
