ABOUT INSPIRE PERSONAL FITNESS

Keith Wimsett, a mild-mannered graphic designer and art director of 12 years, was unexpectedly bitten by an infectious fitness bug the first day he walked into a kickboxing facility.

The aftereffect resulted in a superpower adrenaline rush coursing through his veins. Then, our newly empowered hero began exercising his superpower in a different way. He went the extra mile and became a certified kickboxing instructor.

Keith immediately began teaching classes, spinning his heroic enthusiasm to students twice a week. Soon, his super-powerful influence started transforming students bodies and lives. That’s when Keith decided to dedicate his life to personal training, quit his art director’s job, and opened Inspire Personal Fitness in 2006.

Since then, Keith has helped transform the lives of thousands of mere mortals into super-fit heroes, helping bring out the best in their humanity.

He believes fitness is a lifestyle, much like heroes live a heroic lifestyle. Heroes are prepared and conditioned when the occasion arises, but they don’t make working out their career.

And most of us aren’t training for bodybuilding or Ironman Triathlon competitions, either. That means Keith finds REAL, practical, and long-lasting solutions that work for YOU.

1 in 4 men will experience spousal abuse in their lives and are left with crippling emotions and spiraling thoughts. They then find themselves in a society that questions whether a man can be abused by a woman. So where do they turn?

In Eyes Wide Open, Keith dives deep into his own personal struggles with self doubt and self worth after surviving 18 years of spousal abuse.

His book explores the many-faceted emotions and traumas that come from spousal abuse combined with the hopelessness of living in a culture that can discount men who experience it.

Eyes Wide Open offers a unique view into the world of male abuse that will let other male survivors know that they are not crazy and they are not alone.

Keith’s hope is that this book will help survivors recognize what is happening and give them a roadmap to not only escape the abuse but to heal from it.

To be able to go from surviving to thriving.

This is Keith Wimsett’s second book in the self help and wellness category. His first book, Fuel Your Soul, Transform Your Body, recounts the story of a client’s triumph over self doubt. Her journey from gym member to personal trainer shows how fitness and helping others achieve their goals can transform someone from a feeling of “not good enough” to a life filled with confidence.

MISSION

CULTURE

We cultivate a family and team spirit. Oh sure, we have fun with competitions. But we never leave teammates in the dust at Inspire. Faster and heavier is not always better.

WHY THE SUPERHERO THEME?

Because, like real-life heroes, they inspire us.

Because, like you and me, they’re fallible. They miss the mark; they screw up, sometimes royally. When mistakes are made, those mistakes can be as colossal as their powers are super. It seems superheroes aren’t perfect, and that gives us all hope.
Because of second chances. Almost all superheroes are big believers in second chances. Do wrong, and they’ll use every power they possess to stop you. But pay your debt to society, and they’ll stop at nothing to help you get back on your feet.
Because of heart. They stand up for what they believe in, and are willing to fight and die for it. We could use more of that conviction in our world today.

Because underneath the supersuit, there’s a human. Not only do they start off fully human in their origin stories, they remain human, and it shows. They bicker with each other, worry about paying bills, struggle with internal conflicts over their actions, and some even have health problems.

Because we can relate to them and their motives. When they make a choice to do the right thing, we see ourselves in them. When they choose bad decisions and act outside of character, we see ourselves in them.

Because their stories offer insights and sometimes answers to our own problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does your program work?

We meet with you 1:1 to learn about your goals, injuries, history, etc. We call that a Starting Point Session. From there, you sign up for sessions in our app as your schedule allows, ideally 2-3 times per week. The coach will take it from there. You show up and we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll guide you through your workout, take notes in your profile for your next visit, and support you every step of the way.

How often do the workouts change?

We design a routine for you for a month. Within the week (Monday vs Wednesday) will be a different workout to keep it varied, but you’ll repeat the workouts a few times in the month so that we can practice good repetitions and track progress. If it’s always different, we can’t track improvement. Clients find it’s a good mix of variety, yet certainty of what to expect over time.

How long are the workouts?

50 minutes. In and out within the hour so you can get on to the rest of your day or home for dinner.

Do I need to come every day?

Oh gosh, no. Our average client comes 2-3 days per week and sees great results.

What is small group personal training?

That is how we deliver our workouts. Just like the name says, it’s personal training, but in a small group. So, you’ll get your own workout, your own routine, and have a coach with you at every workout…you’ll just be sharing the coach with about five other people who are also in your session.

Is this like CrossFit?

CrossFit did a nice job at popularizing strength training, kettlebells, and barbells. We certainly use those modalities. However, we don’t do a workout of the day where everyone does the same thing. We personalize each routine to the individual. Will you see similar equipment? Sure. But it’s not the equipment that makes Inspire special, it’s the coaching, accountability, and community.

What if I have an injury?

That’s our specialty. If you were perfectly fit and knew what to do you wouldn’t need to come here. We modify each person’s routine based on their goals and injuries. We also have a physical therapist onsite should we need another opinion about what to do.

Do I really have a coach with me at every single workout?

Yes, yes you do. Every single visit is with a coach. That way we can tell you what to do, make sure you’re doing it right, and be there to support you.

Is it a membership or how does billing work?

Yes, our membership includes unlimited sessions and you are billed monthly.

Is this a regular gym?

I mean, we have equipment and such, but other than that…no…not really. We don’t offer open access where you can come and go as you please. We require all our clients to schedule their workouts on our app, that way all of their workouts are with a coach so they can be fully supported at each and every visit.

Are you really for people 40+?

The majority of our clients are 40+, yes. We find that we attract clients who are intimidated by the typical gym. They need coaching, they need support. That’s not to say we don’t have younger clients who also have those needs, but our niche is definitely fitness over 40.

Do you help with nutrition too?

Yes, we have our exclusive Ascension Nutrition habits-based group program. And if you need more individualized help, we have a nutrition coach on staff.

Where are you located?

We are conveniently located at 554-C Riverside Drive, Asheville, NC 28801
