Making a Difference for Kids: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

When my wife and I opened O3 Health and Fitness 7 years ago this month, we knew we wanted to support a charitable organization that shared our mission: to help people live life better.

We settled on St. Jude, the pediatric treatment and research facility founded by entertainer Danny Thomas. Committed to advancing cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment, St. Jude has significantly and steadily improved survival rates for childhood cancer, and is renowned as a place of compassion that treats all children, regardless of race, color, creed, or their family’s ability to pay.

The St. Jude website’s volunteer page provides a number of fundraising ideas, including programs designed specifically for Students and Teachers, Professionals, Sports Fans and Music Fans. We chose the pledge-based Workout for St. Jude program, in which funds are raised based on the number of pounds lifted, bike miles ridden, minutes walked, etc. Tractor tire flipping, a popular (and challenging) part of our signature personal training workouts, seemed the best bet to set O3’s fundraiser apart.

We’re proud of our 5-year association with St. Jude, and very thankful for the opportunity to use our passion for fitness to help support their groundbreaking and life-saving work. Ever wondered how many times YOU could flip a tractor tire in 5 minutes? Well, Saturday, September 21 is a good a day to find out. So join us, bring your friends, and let’s kick some tractor-tire-butt for a great organization!

Thanks, and enjoy your week.
