Meet the Trainer: 10 Questions for O3 Owner/Trainer Keith Wimsett

KeithKBTo help you get to know us a little better, we’re introducing a fun and informative new monthly feature, “Meet the Trainer: 10 Questions.” The first trainer profiled? Yours truly!

I am the owner of O3 Health & Fitness (that’s right – I am The Boss, The Man, The Big Kahuna, The… well, you get the idea), as well as a certified kickboxing instructor and ACE certified trainer. Ready? Here we go, with questions prepped by Writer / O3 Member Cindy Eaton:

1. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO OPEN O3?

My early experience as a personal was at a private studio in Birmingham. I loved the atmosphere and the fact that the clients were there to workout, not socialize. They wanted results and I was at a facility where I could do that. When my wife and I moved to Asheville I worked at several big gyms and just never embraced the crowds, noise, waiting on equipment, etc. I looked around Asheville and while there were a few small studios it just wasn’t the same. So, I decided to open my own with the idea of offering people a welcoming space where they could get the results they wanted and be a part of a family atmosphere. I wanted a place where the trainers worked as a team and knew every clients name. I’m glad to say I think I’ve achieved that.

2. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF WORKOUT, AND WHY?

I really love the more “metabolic” style workouts, you know, go, go, go, rest, go, go, go. I think it’s because of my kickboxing and mma background. That’s how we trained for competitions.

3. IF TRAPPED ON A DESERT ISLAND WITH JUST ONE CD OF MUSIC, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Man, I love all kinds of music so that’s tough. I’m really digging Shinedown’s newest album Amaryllis so I’ll go with that.

4. EARLY BIRD OR NIGHT OWL?

Early bird most definitely.

5. FAVORITE PRE-WORKOUT MORNING MEAL:

All natural peanut butter with some type of fruit.

6. IS THERE A SONG STUCK IN YOUR HEAD RIGHT NOW, AND IF SO, WHAT IS IT?

Katie Perry’s ROAR. Probably because I have a six year old who sings it constantly.

7. CARTOON CHARACTER YOU MOST CLOSELY IDENTIFY WITH (OR RESEMBLE):

The talking dog from the movie UP. I get easily destracted by shiney things like him.

8. FAVORITE THING ABOUT OWNING / TRAINING AT O3:

I’m a people person so I love meeting all the new people as well as kidding around with the members.

9. IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE, AND WHY?

I’m a big fan of the Hulk. ‘Nuff said puny humans.

10. ORIGIN OF (OR INSPIRATION FOR) YOUR “LIVE LIFE BETTER” TAG LINE:

That’s what we’re about. It’s not about having the perfect beach body or 24 inch biceps. It’s about being able to keep up with your kids (or your grandkids). It’s about not taking so many medications. It’s about not hurting every morning. It’s about feeling strong, confident and empowered. Live life better.
